Sistema NB’s final concert was top notch

Letter to the Editor, Telegraph-Journal 21-June-2017

I had the privilege of attending the Sistema Season Finale Concert, June16. I want your readers to know that the concert was impressive. Some of the students have been playing a musical instrument for less than a calendar year. The musical selections ranged from Beauty and the Beast to Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.

In addition to the massed musicians there were two ensembles from the Sistema NB Chamber Orchestra. These advanced students presented Main Themes from Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite Number 1 and a Serenade from Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, Movement 1. The quality of musicianship is a credit to both the students and their instructors. The Sistema New Brunswick Teaching Artists have planted in our children an ability to play music that is producing the fruit of creativity. This investment is having an impact in the lives of the children and their families now and may open doors to opportunities previously not considered.
